Dr Oliver Posdziech
Head of Large Systems
Sunfire GmbH, Dresden, Germany

Oliver Posdziech studied fluid mechanics and thermodynamics at the Technical University of Dresden, Germany before attaining his PhD in fluid mechanics. He has been developing fuel cell und electrolyser systems since 2002. Oliver Posdziech joined Sunfire in 2011, where he is responsible for the Large Systems Development department. He was leading the development of the worldwide first pressurized SOE and large-scale reversible SOC systems. He was scientific coordinator of the FCH-JU project “Green Industrial Hydrogen” GrInHy, where a first rSOC system was installed in an industrial environment. Currently, he is responsible for MW-scale high-temperature electrolyser installation in Salzgitter’s iron and steal work within the GrInHy2.0 project and in Neste’s bio-refinery in Rotterdam in the framework of the MULTIPLHY project, demonstrating the maturity of SOE technology for industrial hydrogen generation. Oliver Posdziech is in charge of Sunfire’s co-electrolysis development, where the first 10 kW Co-SOEC system was successfully operated and connected to a Direct Air Capture unit and a Fischer-Tropsch reactor.

With the acquisition of IHT by Sunfire, he is also responsible in the development and optimization of pressurized Alkaline electrolysers.
