Physicist graduate from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 1977. He has PhD degree in Chemical Physics, including Physics of Combustion and Explosion, and DSc degree in Fire and Explosion Safety. Head the Department of Fire Safety in Buildings and Fire Modelling at All-Russian Research Institute for Fire Protection until 1999. Since 1999 he is Professor at Ulster University specialising in hydrogen safety. In 2008 he established and directs the HySAFER Centre at Ulster, one of a key providers of hydrogen safety research and education globally. The thrust in research is on analytical and numerical methods and collaboration with leading experimental centres around the world. Prof Molkov has coordinated and contributed to major European projects related to hydrogen safety. He is UK expert in ISO TC197 Hydrogen technologies, CEN/CLC/TC6 Hydrogen in energy systems, IEA HIA Task 37 Hydrogen safety, member of editorial boards of 4 journals, and scientific committees of 7 international conferences, Chair of Education Committee of the International Association for Hydrogen Safety, member of research grouping N.ENERHY of FCH JU. 290+ publications, 15 inventions.
