Mechanical engineer with a degree from University of Dortmund. Director of the Institute for Automotive Research, Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany, since 2014. Appointed Professor for Advanced Powertrains at Chemnitz University in 2010. Previously worked in Volkswagen AG Wolfsburg corporate research – in fuel cells, batteries and fuels, team leader fuel cell systems, project manager fuel cell vehicles in China, Project manager fuel cell APU-Systems. Member of the Association of German Engineers (VDI), head of group for hydrogen and fuel cells, Saxony, Germany.

Since 2017 President of the Saxonian Innovation Cluster for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells HZwo e.V.
