High-temperature fuel cells and electrolyzer cells

The high-temperature programme introduces oxide cells, i.e., solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) and solid oxide electrolyzer cells (SOEC). The main topics are as follows:

  • Materials: electrolyte & electrodes
  • Cell and stack designs
  • Manufacturing
  • Characterisation
  • Modelling
  • Degradation
  • System technology

Note that the programme shares a number of the overarching lectures as well. Here are the topics

  • Brief introduction to fuel cells, electrolyzers and batteries
  • Thermodynamics and Efficiency
  • Characterisation Methods
  • Atomistic Modelling

are covered
